Description
I have always been reluctant about painting self-portraits. I don’t know it feels too personal and being shy does not help. Anyway, this is my first attempt since 1998 I think. The honesty of a painter is revealed through self-portraits. These are the most personal and most difficult subjects what am I trying to communicate? Why paint me? In this instance, I was fascinated by the direct sunset light illuminating my face and the shadows projected by my reading glasses and my scarf. The same bright orange light is hinted at on the roof of the neighbouring houses. Is this an image of hope?
If interested I work on commission and can produce oil on panels with similar subjects.

What a fabulous portrait. Nothing to be shy about here, it is marvelous!
